Kintsugi Inspiration

August 05, 20261 min read

Kintsugi means golden joinery. It is the traditional Japaneseart of repairing broken ceramics by by mending fractures with lacquer mixed with gold, silver or platinium. Rather than disguising the damage, this technique highlights the cracks, embracing flaws as a beautiful and resilient part of an object's history.

Kintsugi Inspirations DSP that Stampin' Up! released a couple of years ago is based on this philosphy. It continues to inspire me.

Recently a friend asked me to make her a card front she sould put in a frame. She had seen a card I had made using this paper and new it would totally fit a piece of music she uses as an affirmation. Of course, I was very happy to do this. A favourite thing when crafting is to make a special creation for a specific purpose. While I had the paper out, I decided to make some blank cards. I thought other people would enjoy the designs and the idea behind Kintsugi.
